It’s never too late though (:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMy 6 year-old girl especially enjoys the books about animals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe’ve been using this series as leisure reads by my tween who appreciates the hanyu pinyin. When he reads them aloud, it doubles up as oral practice too (: \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI’ve really enjoyed learning about the created world and how things work, as I read these alongside my kids.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhy we love this series\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eBooks are \u003cstrong\u003every thin and light\u003c\/strong\u003e - \u003cstrong\u003ePerfect\u003c\/strong\u003e to \u003cstrong\u003ebring to school for silent reading\u003c\/strong\u003e, or to stash in our bags to read when \u003cstrong\u003eout and about or travelling\u003c\/strong\u003e, for \u003cstrong\u003escreen-free\u003c\/strong\u003e ways to keep kids occupied, quiet and learning! \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eSimple text\u003c\/strong\u003e from \u003cstrong\u003echild's perspective\u003c\/strong\u003e, but \u003cstrong\u003enot too childish \u003c\/strong\u003e- making the content matter \u003cstrong\u003eeasy to understand for little ones\u003c\/strong\u003e, still \u003cstrong\u003every interesting for older learners \u003c\/strong\u003ewho may not like to read Chinese books (yet!), and suitable for \u003cstrong\u003eadults too\u003c\/strong\u003e!\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGentle illustrations\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eHanyu pinyin\u003c\/strong\u003e aid\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003ePleasant audio readaloud\u003c\/strong\u003e through a QR code at the back of each book - Sometimes we play the audio track while looking at the pictures and flipping the pages. Other times we listen to all the audio tracks while doing other things like drawing or housework. Not all audio readalouds are made equal, some are screechy and high-pitched that put us off, but these are enjoyable to listen!\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCovers a \u003cstrong\u003ebroad range of topics\u003c\/strong\u003e that \u003cstrong\u003eappeal to different interests\u003c\/strong\u003e - animals, nature, inventions, earth, science, human body, astronomy, health, habits and more! A winner - because \u003cstrong\u003ekids can choose\u003c\/strong\u003e which topics they’re more keen in to read and learn. Reading about topics they \u003cem\u003ewon't\u003c\/em\u003e usually choose also \u003cstrong\u003ebroadens their horizons\u003c\/strong\u003e!\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSection in some books called \u003cstrong\u003eLittle Science Facts 小科普\u003c\/strong\u003e - I really like that we're learning interesting things, learning Chinese and bonding all at the same time (:\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eEncourage curiosity\u003c\/strong\u003e - My boys especially enjoy non-fiction and learning how things work. I’m so glad that they can engage with Chinese books through their natural curiosity! When I observe that my kids are interested in specific books, we dive deeper by watching related videos and documentaries in either English or mandarin, on Youtube!\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cstrong\u003eBuild cross-language connections \u003c\/strong\u003e- We have already learnt many of these concepts in English, so learning it now in Chinese reinforces understanding.
