@ourhappylearners shared this song & immediately it brought back memories of my late grandma singing it. She was widowed with 4 kids as a young mother - I wonder if this song made her miss my late grandpa more.

A song that will be familiar for many Singaporean Chinese who grew up watching local TV dramas! Once the intro starts, the scenes of the show 豆腐街 set in Singapore after World War II come rushing back.

Was intrigued when @our_learning_attic introduced this song! I read that the analogy of two kinds of girls that guys meet - moonlight & mole, come from 张爱玲’s novel《红玫瑰与白玫瑰》. Has reference to 李白’s 静夜思 too. My new earworm!
