My daughter loves this book very much especially the lion & dragon dance pop up picture with a very colourful detailed , such an interesting book
The story involved various unique topics that we don't usually come across in children's literature - death, adoption, letting go of a knowledge we hold comfort to, persevering through challenges for the ones we love. Although these are difficult life topics, the author has beautifully presented the story in simple words and is not lengthy at all and easy for children to understand. It is up to parents how deep they want to discuss with their child about the story. The beautiful illustration accompanies the story very well.
I have never thought about the evolution of writing. This is a good book to kickstart a child's love for writing. My boy is starting to understand why he has to learn to write and record information.
We learned about the evolution of toilets and my child started asking a lot more questions about toilets. I am impressed that this book stirred my 4.5yo child's curiosity to learn more about the past. My toddler absolutely loves books related to poop and pee so this book tickles her!
This pop-up book is very apt for the festival and instill the different traditions during CNY, as well as the origins of these traditions. In addition, there are many interactive elements in this book that engage the child and hold their attention. My LO especially likes changing the clothes for Cheng Cheng, as well as the pop-up red lantern. It is also a good book to prepare LO on what is forthcoming during CNY :) Would definitely recommend it!
Not many books make me cry, but this is definitely one of them. It helps my children to be aware that many families in other countries have to stay away from their homes for months and months. It puts into perspectives into how far a work location can be that they can't be home everyday, and the parent has be away to work to bring in income for the family. They miss their daddy after listening to the story and they want me to hide the lucky coin in their food 🤣. Definitely, this is a must-have picture book to include in your shelf for the Chinese New Year.
Excellent book to read to the babies on the very first Christmas in Chinese! Quality board books and nice colours!
Love this series of sound books. Great quality, can adjust the volume and there are accompanying print to the songs! Useful esp for the Chinese poems and 三字经！
Finally got my hands on this book. While my 3yo girl already has some understanding about body privacy & respect since 2y plus old, this book helps me to further emphasize and explain to her.
Got this volume of sticker books for very yound kids. My 3yo gets to play one of the books too. She loves it v v much!
Got this cute soundbook to incorporate more Chinese into my young nephew’s day-to-day life. Learning a language through Music is definitely a lot more fun & easier! The older nephew can also play along on the piano while playing/bonding with his brother. So sweet right? Haha
Got this to introduce Chinese Poems to my 3yo cos Mama is not a Chi Poems expert. Fav part is the easy to press buttons for the kid to listen to the poem & gradually memorise (that’s what chi poems are mainly abt yea? Haha). 3yo is still pretty young, so my girl is reading after the narrator & memorising the poem’s title, poet name & period. Not bad right? Better than her mother definitely. In addition, i love that there’s a simple summary to explain the poem. The hypy also makes pronunciation easy if mama/papa is gg to read aloud.
A very cute and simple series. The illustrations are very attractive and children can relate it to their everyday routine. Perfect for younger children.
The book brought insights into many basic written mandarin words. My children (5-6yos) had fun guessing each picture and celebrated when they guessed it correctly; and took time to understand why a certain word is drawn in a particular manner when they didn't. Adults and children alike can enjoy the book together.
My son loves going through this series over and over again especially attracted to the facts about animals are pooing too. I like it covers each topic in depth with simple language and graphics.
My 11 month old daughter loves flipping through the book and exploring all the interactive elements. We had borrowed a copy from the library when she was 8 months old and she loved it so much that we bought one to keep. Its one of her favorite and daily go to book till today. Looking forward to more of this series.
The first set that I read to him was the feeling book. Aside from the texts, i also included some actions to come along with it so that he could understand the non-verbal communications as well. He loves it. It's the favourite book for a long while.
My son loves imitating the actions made by the different animals. This made reading the books much more fun as he can also participates in action
I was initially worried this could be too academic for my almost 3yo son. Turned out he kept reaching out to the box to practice the strokes and all the card letters. Amazingly, he is able to follow and does the right sequence easily! The box also comes with an instruction manual, which is very helpful in explaining about the strokes and how to teach. I didnt remember going to such basics when I learnt Chinese.
My son loves this series a lot. At first, I thought the story was too simple and some sentences are in repetition. But he loves it!!! He can read it like 2-3x per set per day and he applies some of the things mentioned in the book such as asking friends what they have for lunch, requesting tissue after poop, tidy up and said "收起来", etc. It is good to see that he applies what he learns in the book. It is very simple to me but very engaging and beneficial to him. Sometimes i tend to forget the end user is him.so yes, i will recommend this book to young kids!
My daughter instinctly put her finger on the strokes and had fun tracing the cards! She couldn’t wait to continue! The cards includes some suggested games to help parents and child learn together! Can’t wait to use it!
My 2.5yo is in love with this and has been singing / bobbing to the tunes! Thanks for bringing in such an awesome "book"!
为了让1岁的小女儿对中文有兴趣，我选择了这本发生书。可爱的声响和朗朗上口的儿歌，不止小女儿爱，连4.5 岁的大女儿和 3 岁的儿子都喜欢。
Just received this audiobook and am intrigued by the chinese tunes! I’ve never heard any of them before so I’m excited to learn them along with my son. I really like that musical notation for the tunes are provided so I can have the option of playing them on the piano and do live singing. I also appreciate that there’s an instrumental version to the tunes! Volume is adjustable. Overall, versatile as a learning resource and easy to use. Simple start/stop function :)
My two-year-old toddler loves the book! He would repeat after the audio recitation and he enjoys exploring the different pictorial buttons on the book. :) Thank you!
The minimal text repeated throughout the book works great for new learners of the language (myself included!). My daughter was able to pick up the words fairly quickly due to the repetition. She now uses them on me when she wants me to wait for her haha! Beautiful graphics. And beautiful storyline too - that sometimes it is worth slowing down to savour the moment. It spoke to me as a parent. Kids grow up so fast. It’s good to sometimes slow down and enjoy them while we can. Thanks Linxin, this is one of my favourite books!
Both my kids love this so much! My 1 year old enjoys bobbing to the music and it keeps him entirely entertained during his mealtimes. I’ve also caught my 3 year old playing the familiar tunes to herself (eg Old MacDonald) to listen to the lyrics in Mandarin. A great way to get kids interested in the language all on their own. Thanks Linxin!
I love how this book shows so many scenarios of every day courage that children across ages can relate to. My daughter was so happy (and proud) to learn that even eating her vegetables can be considered an act of bravery. It has helped her adopt a more positive perspective on things too. Thank you, Linxin! : )
Really love how bilingual the books are. Universal acceptance and peace promoted. Awesome
Linxin introduced me to the idea of soundbooks and I think they're a really helpful tool. Would have paid a lot more for this.
Bought for godson- love the fun rhymes!
It is a very interactive book that invites questions from my 6-year-old boy and is a good chinese conversation starter.
