Awesome to read to toddlers and preschoolers,
and my primary school kids are reading on their own!

so in this post,
I'll share about the book
《藏猫猫的竹节虫》!
📗 We started reading this book again after
I took a time-lapse video of the stick insects
at The Attic during Mr 8's lesson last Saturday,
which triggered my other kids' interest
in this peculiar insect!
💡 We learn that apart from stick insects,
there are such things as leaf insects too.
Their camouflage game is really strong!
✍🏻 Also took a quick moment
to explore more radicals 偏旁部首
with my 6 year old.
🔍 For this book, there's a search and find element,
and I was surprised to find
Mr 6 picking up this book to read again a few days later,
covering up the "answers"
and spotting the hidden stick insects amongst the plants again.
So cute!!!

💬 The name 竹节虫 can be quite a mouthful...
but after we read the book twice together,
and used it several times to describe the stick insect
while watching the video,
my younger 2 managed to pick up the term!
💪🏻 Reminds me that learning a language is for the long haul.
There are no shortcuts!
