I've always been on the lookout for funny books to keep my kids excited about nature. We've been enjoying these books for a few years and the kids still smile when reading them again. I love it when they share quirky facts with me from within, bonus if it's in Mandarin (:
Features that we love:
- Introduces interesting animals that attract kids' attention
-
Illustrations are vivid and lively!
- Details are sometimes comical, making kids laugh
- We can learn scientific facts about each animal,
like its appearance, characteristics, life cycle, and quirky facts that few people know!
Titles in this set and some interesting things we've learnt from within:
- 蚯蚓 Earthworm
Earthworms have no hands, no feet, no eyes, no bones, and no lungs.
Earthworms dislike the sun, and they cannot breathe in dry air. - 蜘蛛 Spider
Spiders usually have 8 eyes!
They usually inject venom into its prey before eating it. - 青蛙 Frog
A mama frog can lay thousands of eggs at a time!
Frogs' skin can be colourful. - 瓢虫 Ladybug
Ladybugs pretend to be dead when they sense that predators are nearby!
They live about 3 years. - 刺猬 Hedgehog
Hedgehogs use branches and leaves to make their nests.
Their young do not have spikes! - 蝙蝠 Bat
Bats are the only mammals that fly.
Almost all bats hibernate through the winter. - 蚊子 Mosquito
Its young lives in the water and when it becomes an adult, they leave the water.
Only female mosquitoes bite and suck blood, and they do that when they want to grow eggs! - 鼹鼠 Mole
