My family has been enjoying Dim Sum Warriors Club Membership for a while (as a fully paying customer btw)! In particular, we love the funny bilingual e-books and engaging word games on their Web App. We have some of these books in print too, and I often find my kids chuckling while reading on their own (:

I have added Dim Sum Warriors Web App to my list of mom-approved fun and educational Chinese screentime options.

Highly recommend bilingual families around the world to experience Dim Sum Warriors stories, videos, livestreams and more!

Super funny bilingual series for our little food-lovers!

Recently, I’ve been more convinced than ever of the importance of reading for leisure. When kids are internally motivated and actively seek out Chinese books that they enjoy, reading is no longer a monotonous and dreaded task forced upon them, but a gateway to explore wondrous worlds and bring comfort (It improves literacy too! But maybe don’t tell them that!)

When we chanced upon the Little Dim Sum Warriors, we found the main characters really adorable. After reading some of the stories, we were hooked!

Main characters:

  • Chashao Bao (Baozi) 叉烧包 ( 包子 )
Bighearted Baozi is generous and jolly, though he is a little pampered and can be fussy and lazy at times.
  • Xiajiao 虾饺
Bravehearted Xiajiao is bold and always stands up for what she believes in! But she can be a little hot-tempered and rash…

  • Shaomai 烧卖
Purehearted Shaomai is very innocent and kind, but gets stressed easily over whether he's doing the right thing.

Features:

  • Delightful illustrations
  • Bilingual English-Chinese
  • Large text for pointing and sharing
  • Vocabulary lists
  • Covering themes like self, others and the world, culture

点心侠 Dim Sum Warriors Bilingual Tales (Set of 2)

My 4 year old loves eating dim sum so naturally she is very captivated by these books. The style reminds me of the Mo Williams books (but with more dialogue). The book about apologising is funny and dramatic, and such fun to read. I like how this book shows us how apologising is more than just saying sorry, in a very light-hearted manner. The celebrating is hard work book would be great to read during Lunar New Year!
