The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories in the Bible,
pointing to Jesus as our Savior.
From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the Story unfolds,
children will clearly see that Jesus is at the center of God’s great story of salvation
—and at the center of their own life story too.

This makes for an excellent resource to dig deeper into the Bible Stories
to understand God's heart and overarching plan.

Features that I find helpful:

  • Chinese text with Hanyu Pinyin - many parents have requested for Chinese Bible resources with pinyin, and this is very rare! This will aid older children in reading the Mandarin bible independently!
  • Gorgeous illustrations that are not too kiddy - older kids will appreciate this
  • Lots of questions and food for thought - not just to read about the stories, but to delve deeper
  • Original bible passage references included

I particularly love the conversational and simplified version of the Lord's prayer on Page 226, and Psalms 23 on pages 132-133!

Please note:

  • The level of Chinese language is more advanced than other books in our Faith Collection
  • Font size is on the slightly smaller side
  • As this bible is edited for simplicity to allow kids to understand at their level, inevitably the stories will be slightly watered down. Our role as parents would be to observe our children and add in clarifications and details from the original passages as needed.
  • Some may be concerned that the author takes a little creative liberty in adding details, while presenting the stories to the young audience

Meaningful book!

I bought this book mainly because it has Han yu pin yin, but after reading a few chapters I really love the theology as well and how every chapter points to Jesus. Found out that the original book is highly reviewed by Tim Keller too. I’m considering getting a few more for gifts!

Christ Centered Book

I read the English version of this to my children a few years ago and like the theology and how all the stories point to Christ. I was thrilled when I came across the Chinese version and bought it for myself so that I can learn how to talk about Christ in Chinese. The HYPY definitely helped and the language level is accessible for me.
