 The Monarch butterflies' great migration every year is spectacular,
yet shrouded in mystery.

Follow the Monarch butterflies as they make the great southern migration from Canada and northernmost parts of America at summer's end, to reach the Mexican forest. This takes place over two months and across nearly 4000 kilometres! They then make their way back home up north in spring.

What blows my mind is that monarchs' lifespan changes depending on when they were born in the year! If they were born before the migratory journey, they live 6-9 months. In the early spring, monarchs will mate and lay eggs, and if they eclosed in the spring/summer months, the monarchs will survive only 2-6 weeks!
