I am little. Many things I don't do it well yet, but one day I will master them. Slowly, I will be able to do it. Now, I'm still learning!

In the busyness of life, rushing from one appointment to another, adhering to routines and schedules, it is inevitable to feel rushed or hurry our kids to do the next task or learn a new skill.

At one point, we would all have oversized clothes for our kids waiting to be worn. Before we know it, the clothes fit them perfectly, and soon become too small for their growing frame. Our babies grow up way too fast!

This book shows us we should slow down, and give our kids the gift of time. Time to discover, to savour each stage. Time to try, time to grow, time to fail and succeed. After all, we were once little.

A simple story with beautiful illustrations

This book somehow captured the attention and heart of my 3yo that she made us read it to her possibly 10x when I first introduced it to her! Perhaps because it is the very relatable story of a little girl feeling shy in front of strangers, needing mom to fall asleep at night, not wanting to share her toys etc. I love how the book frames these common toddler/young children “problems” in a very gentle way that respects the child’s inner world, and yet sending a message that these will be things that they will learn to do in time to come.

Simply sweet and earnest

My daughter remembers the cute dog in this book Lulu and calls it the Lulu book. I think the story is lovely as it is very positive, even if she is small she is learning and has patience. Also a few pages about quarreling over a toy with a friend and making up after, that was a pretty good teaching moment. Overall, a sweet and earnest read with beautiful illustrations.

The story line is very relatable to what my 2yo is going through at the moment - afraid of new faces/ strangers, not daring to sleep on her own, clothes too big to fit… amusingly, she refers to the girl in the book as herself. it is a simple and short story to read, but also rather heartwarming.

小小的我 book review

The story is beautifully illustrated with a simple storyline that is age appropriate for even 3yos! A good book for introducing the concept of how children will grow more capable as long as they keep learning and trying.
